Third Surgery in less than 4 months

We have just gotten home with Bella.  She had her third surgery today in less than 4 months.  We thought this was a minor one and really did not get too worked up about it, but it has been a little more than we expected.  She had tubes put in her ears and also underwent some dental surgery.  The tubes weren't a problem.  The doctor said she did have a lot of fluid in both of her ears.  We are hoping and praying that this will help her hear better and help her speech.  We have been told that even though she seems like she can hear just fine, it may sound like she is under water.  So what she may think is normal, really may not be.

She also had dental surgery.  We weren't really sure what was going on in her mouth with her teeth.  The dentist performed his surgery right after the tubes were inserted.  The dentist fixed around a dozen cavitites, placed a crown on one of her teeth, sealed others and then pulled her lone top tooth in the middle of her mouth.  He said he tried to save it, but it was just too far gone and needed to be removed to prevent disease.   The dental part was supposed to take an hour, but because things were a little worse than he expected, it took 2 and 1/2 hours.  And because her mouth is so tiny, she is once again very swollen and sore.  Not as bad as when she had her palate repair, but still worse than what we expected.  I think she is about to trade us in as parents.  She has had enough!  We think this is last surgery until sometime this summer. (hopefully)

Once again, Children's Hospital has been amazing.  Because they had to remove a tooth, they sent her home with a little tooth care package and a note for the tooth fairy that said ...

Dear Tooth Fairy,
I was at the Dentist today and had to have a tooth wiggled out because it was sick.  I was not allowed to keep it.  Please accept this note in its place (the dentist said you would).

Signed by the Dentist

Isn't that cute?  They seem to think of everything.

She is pretty irritable right now.  Please pray she rests and heals quickly!

  1. Oh my goodness....poor little girl! I'd be irritable too. :( I'm really glad that she has the opportunity and such loving parents to help her through all of this. It must be heart-wrenching for you all. The Children's Hospital sounds wonderful, too - given the situation! We're thinking of you & Bella and hoping healing comes soon!! Miss you!

  2. poor Bella! Praying that her pain goes away quickly and that she doesn't trade you guys in. LOL!!! I got all teary when I was reading the Tooth Fairy note. So sweet! Hopefully this will be it for a while! Miss you guys!

  3. Sweet girl-so sorry she has to have all that done, but she will bounce back! Praying her mouth is back to normal soon and that the tubes help her to hear better!!

  4. Wow, three surgeries already? Poor Bella--or Ella! But he's saying some "B" sounds now, so maybe he can say "Bella" soon. :) The tubes were a bit more than I expected, but give that a few days and she'll be fine. But the teeth! Poor girl. I hope things look up soon.

  5. Thinking of you..... Poor Bella, it will all be worth it when she is older. Thanks God she has such great parents!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  6. Bella is looking so happy & beautiful you could not have gotten a more precious gift from God. I would never say Poor Bella I would say Bella is Blessed and special in the eyes of God. If we keep voting for abortion in our country a precious gift like this will be reason for abortion..Like Hitler he wanted a perfect race. In God's eyes we are all perfect.
